What no restroom for 155 miles?
October 2nd, 2010 by adminThose in Ireland wanting to check out the new motorway better have a very strong bladder as there is no way to get off the motorway and no rest stops, services, and no bathrooms for the long stretch between Dublin and Cork which is a 155 mile long ride. May not sound bad to some as the ride may only take around 3 to 4 hours, but to others this can be very long time between bathroom breaks.
The sad part is that the new motorway, part of the National Roads Authority plan as well as Ireland’s economic plan to rebuild after the financial collapse ran out of money before completion of the services and other necessities along the way. They did have enough money to at least warn motorist that the motorway is a continuous stretch without any facilities available. Hope those with children can handle the trip.
If this were only in America, it would be easy to find a way to provide at least bathrooms along the way with VIP TO GO. This portable restroom company has a wide array of portable bathrooms and showers that can rented for short term or long term. Even a few stretches of highway in the US could benefit from these instead of making visitors to their state have to travel for hours on desolate roadways without any restrooms in sight. You know what I am talking about if you have ever traveled through parts of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. There have been times that I was ready to pop and had to stop at a dirty gas station after traveling several hundred miles.
If states along the major roadways would just invest in a portable restroom trailers, they might just see more visitors coming to enjoy their beautiful state. Too many times, without these facilities no one is interested in taking the time to enjoy the scenic view. When you gotta go that is all that is on your mind.
States with these wonderful lookouts and beautiful scenic rides should at least have a few restroom trailers placed along the best scenic views so their visitors can truly enjoy the beautiful view and take more time to take family photos and maybe even decide to stop in the next town to stay the night at a local hotel.
Just consider how much more revenue the states could actually receive by providing the necessary facilities along the way for visitors. They will stay in local hotels, eat at local restaurants, and certainly be able to find a nice way to change baby’s diaper without waiting a couple of hours driving down a stretch of road without any facilities.
